Let's hope this is getting out. As you may recall, I've been in hiding for a while. I think my security might have been breached, though. Lots of fun words there. Magnetrons, as we know them in Alpha, are massive machines, far removed from their origins as little cathode-tube arrangements used in archaic microwave ovens. Like so many things in the Complex, someone went for bigger and better, and then someone else added some dubiously-necessary features, and things just kind of snowballed from there. Suffice to say, when someone talks about magnetrons in Alpha, they're talking about the gigantic, meters-tall radiation generators found in many R&D labs. No, not the nuclear plants. These are different radiation generators. They're used primarily for research, or so the R&D wonks say. Capable of outputting radiation at variable levels across a wide range of the electromagnetic spectrum, they're (naturally) one of the most dangerous things in the complex.¹

A Zenith-Class collapse is what occurs when, to translate the above excerpt into layclone's terms, an accident turns the magnetron into a miniature black hole, through a hideously unlikely and self-destructive chain reaction of quantum physics.
