"Developing a Better Complex" is one of a series of Documentaries about the R&D Service Firms and the important work they do to assist the Computer in improving conditions in Alpha Complex. The projects detailed in this video include the ADC, Toothpasty_Supplement_#5, and the long abandonded Xenoseptic_Fountain Project.

The Computer pulled the video from distribution due to a number of errors, but it remained available in HPD&MC's archives. Although there was some damage (namely a segment involving the mixing of Beta-Toxsystene into Toothpasty_Supplement_#5 and other effects it is supposed to have apparently being taped over with a Teela-O-MLY episode) most of the video is intact, and reveals numerous missteps that may have contributed to the Disaster. Most notable was the death of the entire team (sans one) working on the Xenoseptic_Fountain, after confusion as to which conduit should be active at a given time. The multiple chemicals coursing through the fountain at once had catastrophic effects, reminiscent of some of the wreckage found in the various sectors in the Disaster's wake.

The presentation of this test caused the video censorship. While the late director, Cope-O-LAH-6, saw it as a poigniant ending showing the risks we all take in Friend Computer's service, the Computer saw it as an attack upon his ability to guide the Complex, and R&D saw it as a hack job meant to drive down recruitment.

"Developing a Better Complex" is rated Clearance VIOLET by Friend Computer. It is available in both widescreen and fullscreen formats, but both seem to have the error with Teela-O-MLY episodes. I currently still hold the videos, but will gladly make them available to those in the Investigative Group.

Commentary:

Every single copy of the video has been damaged? Failure to properly archive at least one pristine copy of any video documentary is a Class 3 Misdemeanor. Furthermore, failure to properly file the necessary paperwork regarding damage to a video archive is a Class 5 Misdemeanor. I trust that you will co-operate with PLC agents in investigating the matter.

I'll do what I can in regard to the video damage matter, but I note I am neither the archivist nor producer of said video. One of the HPD&MC panelists should be asked about that.

Ah, HPD&MC. I should have known it would come down to those incompetents.

What Teela-O episode was it, anyway? I'm missing a few.

Apparently, it was "The Traitors of Sector RED." The one where her RED clearance sidekick was apparently a Traitor, but turned out to be merely an undercover operative for the Computer in trying to bust the Traitors. It's probably useless to you, though, as the beginning five minutes seem to be missing -- they start with her sidekick shouting "Wait, it's not that you thi--" right before Teela-O shoots him, and agonizes about it for a bit before finding out his true mission.

Not a bad episode, though. I should try to find the whole thing, one of these days.
